Private Sector Calls for Improved Regulatory Environment

Business leaders in Somalia have called for improvements to the regulatory environment, citing the need for clearer policies and streamlined procedures to support enterprise growth.

Representatives from business associations stated that predictable regulations and efficient licensing processes are essential to reducing operating costs and encouraging investment. They noted that complex or inconsistent requirements can hinder expansion, particularly for small and medium sized enterprises.

Officials from relevant government institutions acknowledged the concerns and indicated that efforts are underway to review regulatory frameworks affecting trade, taxation, and business registration. Authorities stated that consultations with the private sector form part of ongoing reform initiatives.

Entrepreneurs highlighted access to finance and infrastructure as additional constraints facing businesses. They stressed that regulatory reforms should be complemented by measures that improve access to credit and reduce logistical barriers.

Economic analysts observe that a supportive regulatory environment is critical to job creation and economic diversification. They note that sustained dialogue between policymakers and the private sector can help align reforms with market realities.

Government officials reiterated their commitment to fostering a business friendly climate, emphasising that private sector growth remains central to Somalia’s economic development agenda.
