The government has shed more light on the Kenya–Germany Migration and Mobility Partnership, signed in September 2024, which is set to open structured employment and training opportunities for Kenyan professionals in Europe.
Speaking after talks with Germany’s Minister Wadephul and his delegation, hosted by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu said the agreement provides safe, legal and non-quota-based pathways for Kenyan talent to access the German labour market.
Unlike traditional migration arrangements, the partnership directly matches Kenyan skills to Germany’s labour needs while strengthening safeguards against irregular migration, labour exploitation and human trafficking.
The framework is anchored on a mutual-benefit model, allowing Germany to address critical skills shortages while enabling Kenya to expand opportunities for its youth, grow remittances and strengthen skills transfer through its diaspora
